Martial Arts and Self defence are not entirely the same thing. Whilst Martial Arts are essential for developing necessary skills and attributes (and can be used for defending oneself), it is a broader discipline incorporating fitness, personal development and in some cases, competition.
Self Defence training on the other hand should be focused on effective methods that work in high-pressure, dangerous scenarios, where the primary goal is survival or de-escalation.
