Escrima Concepts

Escrima, also known as Arnis or Kali, is a Martial Art originating from the Philippines that utilises both weaponry and unarmed training. 


Escrima Concepts is a modern system of Escrima founded by Steve Tappin. It has grown into an international organisation with clubs across the UK and Europe. It is a highly effective method of self defence due to its use of concepts rather than specific techniques, meaning that it is simple to learn and apply. 


Weapons are used as training tools because they improve coordination and help develop an understanding of how they work. Essentially, the body mechanics we develop from training with weapons improve our ability to protect ourselves against them. With weapon attacks sadly becoming more common, learning weapons defence is a must.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a dynamic martial art known for its effective striking as well as it's physical and mental benefits, such as increased fitness, balance, coordination and focus. 


The IMPACT Kickboxing programme is drawn from various striking arts and centred around self-defence as opposed to competition training. Pad work and sparring drills help students to develop essential body mechanics, while strength and conditioning exercises improve overall fitness and shape a warrior mindset. 


We run a full curriculum for kids and adults that has been certified by the British Martial Arts & Boxing Association (BMABA). No previous experience is required and regardless of your fitness level, this class will help you develop functional skills and get into great shape. The kids side of the programme also emphasises character development such as as moral behaviour, discipline, confidence and fortitude.

SPEAR System®

Most Self Defence training won't teach you how to manage fear, how to control the adrenaline spike, or how to use your body's natural defence mechanisms to protect yourself and fight back... This programme will.


The SPEAR System® (Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated Response) is a close quarter protection system developed by Tony Blauer. It is the study of human movement as it relates to violence, fear and aggression. It's focus includes:


  • Awareness and de-escalation tactics
  • Fear & adrenaline management
  • Harnessing the body's instinctive reactions to threats and violence and converting them into effective defences.

Realistic and Practical Training

We offer a range of Self Defence programmes centred around realism, effective protection and ease-of-use. 


Our mission is to make our students safer from day one. 


Many people teaching Self Defence focus on types of attacks without examining the psychological and physical effects that one will encounter in high stress situations. Training is often unrealistic and taught by people without experience of real-world violence.


Our approach tackles these issues directly and provides structured training for all ages and abilities in a safe and supporting environment.
